I wish I was a sheep

Gonja Sufi and Gaslamp Killer's 'A Sufi and a Killer' is finally out. If you happen to be in LA on the 15th, check out the release party at Echoplex - both the Sufi and the Killer will be playing DJ sets. For the rest of us in the rest of the world, listening to the album on repeat is just going to have to do.

I also recommend checking out the upcoming issue of Dazed and Confused, featuring an interview by Deputy Editor Tim Noakes, that apparently involves a road-trip across the US. Awesome.

A Sufi and a Killer

The upcoming Gonja Sufi x Gaslamp Killer collaboration entitled 'A Sufi and a Killer' is fucking....killer. Which is pretty much what you would expect from the pairing of an insanely eclectic producer like Gaslamp Killer with the intriguing vocal talents of Gonja Sufi. The album is impossible to pigeonhole - it starts off with an intro called 'Bharatnatyam', and then spirals into tracks with samples torn from Indian film, 60's psychedelia and funk; sounds are undressed then distressed to the point where their hiss and crackle almost match the strained lilt of Gonja's vocals. It's a fucking gorgeous album, and I can't wait to listen to it on repeat.

'A Sufi and a Killer' drops on Warp records in early March. I'm posting two tracks with a distinctly discobb bent (read : slow jams), but I urge you to buy the record once it's out. It's worth it.
