Mohamed El Amin believes that every moment deserves a soundtrack. The Dubai-based photographer takes pictures that are often named after songs or accompanied by musical recommendations. This is a concept I can completely get behind, being a little obsessed as well with soundtracking life.
Mohamed's recommendation for this image is a track by Canadian post-rockers, Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra. As his portfolio is mostly filled with pictures from live performances, I've decided to put up a live version of 'American Motor Over Smoldered Field'.

'Memorandoms' by James Nizam features photographs of the various ephemeral sculptures Nizam erected over a three month period in an abandoned housing estate. The structures are breathtakingly fragile; built out of discarded doors, shelves and pipes. I think they're sad and lovely - these elaborately constructed forms with an expiry date.
I would have loved if Nizam had also photographed their collapse.
Memorandoms is showing at Gallery Jones in Vancouver, until Feb 27.

Jalal Abuthina (a Dubai-based photographer and friend of discobb) likes his world in blues and greys. His images often have an other-worldly quality about them, and he's hugely influenced by music (last year, Jalal wrote a guest-post for discobb that featured a mini mix of spaced out and ambient sounds).
Leading up to the opening of 'Sense of Sight', a group show at the DUCTAC, Jalal has sent us an outtake from the series he is showing. Accompanying his image is a track from the new (and fucking amazing) Four Tet full length, 'There Is Love In You'.
Get your headphones on.
