Finding love. Blinding love.

All around the world, clumsily wrapped flowers and cheap chocolates are being presented to lovers, spouses and sweethearts. These mundane gifts will be exchanged, glasses of wine and champagne will be consumed, lips will part in smiles and laughter, and then (hopefully) bodies will mash together in a few moments of lust.

It's just another day, but apparently a love-ly day. For your listening pleasure, I bring you Veronica Falls and their otherworldy tale of graveyard romance (yey!).

Whether you're spending today with someone special, or you're enjoying it in contented solitude - have a happy VD x

The Base of the Pit

Antifamily were (are?) a London-based collective of artists, marxists, designers and musicians. There's very little information about them floating around the internet, but whatever you do find is congratulatory and gushing. It's not hard to see why - their anarchist/post-punk/freeform/beatridden sonic experiments are surprisingly melodic (unlike a lot of other 'art' bands). They're also really danceable. I especially like the numerous female vocalists that are paraded around in the songs. They're all dark hair and scowling faces, the kind of women you would expect to be entranced by at a dinner party.

I'm not sure if Antifamily still produce any music, though I do know that members of the collective went on to form Petit Mal (also featured here on discobb).

For more mp3s check out the Antifamily website. It's essential stuff.

silence sharpens pencils

i'm not quite sure how my well intentioned break morphed into a mighty four months of silence on the blog. i promise you this, i missed it very much.

but during this time, i finally managed to 'listen' to music again. old and new(er) sounds that i wanted to get lost in just for the pleasure of disappearing.
the next track on the blog is by a band i've been listening to constantly in the past few months. they're called petit mal, and i'm positive that like me, you'll fall in love with lead singer melanie gilligan. she is the music of a chilly early-evening.

welcome back to discoballbreaker.
