We've all heard the story of how John met Yoko. He was at the Indica Gallery in London where she was showing an exhibition called 'Unfinished Paintings and Objects'. He came upon a ladder in the middle of the room, it's steps leading up to a painting suspended from the ceiling. He climbed up the ladder and found the tiny word that was printed on the canvas. The word was yes.

I haven't always been a fan of Yoko Ono's music, but I came across this track recently, and it's led to a bit of an Ono revival on my ipod.

(I also got my fourth tattoo last week - and yes, it's of a yes.)

'Eye Love You' (by Iranian artist Shirin Aliabadi) is made up of numerous drawings, splashed with colour and glitter, and pulsing with the giddy optimism of a young school girl. For the show's music, I looked at beautiful women singing about their loves and lives. Sparkling musicians like Joanna Newsom and Fiona Apple, emotive performers like tUnE-yArDs and Scout Niblett, and my personal favourites - Electrelane. This is a grrl mix built out of the soft and the steely, just like all the grrls I know.

Gonja Sufi and Gaslamp Killer's 'A Sufi and a Killer' is finally out. If you happen to be in LA on the 15th, check out the release party at Echoplex - both the Sufi and the Killer will be playing DJ sets. For the rest of us in the rest of the world, listening to the album on repeat is just going to have to do.

I also recommend checking out the upcoming issue of Dazed and Confused, featuring an interview by Deputy Editor Tim Noakes, that apparently involves a road-trip across the US. Awesome.

Jeremy Jay (who has been gushed over in a previous post), will be lauching a new 7" next week at The Rest is Noise in Brixton. Discobb will be there, slow dancing in a dark corner. If you're around, come say hello.

I woke up this morning to find myself in the midst of a musical name-dropping competition between AvantCaire and Tom Gara. We're still embroiled in the heat of battle (I will crush them).

Anyway, this intercontinental (AvantCaire is currently in snowy New York) challenge has reminded me of the Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue duet 'Where the Wild Roses Grow'.

I would happily sacrifice myself to the river if Cave was the one with the rock in his fist. Swooooon.
